Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups - Advocacy & Legislation
The Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups is a strong advocate on behalf of seniors in the state of Wisconsin. We provide ongoing grassroots advocacy efforts for issues affecting seniors. Through advocacy, the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups develops and supports public policies that reflect our members' views and interests as directed by our platform. CWAG's legislative successes are directly attributable to the activism of our membership.

Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups call on Congress to make changes to Part D
The Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups and five other grassroots senior advocacy organizations call on the new Congress to make drastic changes in 2007 to the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Program.
Prescription Drugs, Medicare Part D & the Coalition to Fix Medicare Rx
The high cost of prescription drugs is a big burden on many older people in Wisconsin and across the nation. The Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups is working to ensure that programs like SeniorCare are maintained so seniors in the state of Wisconsin are assured the medications they need. We're also working to help seniors find resources and programs that will save them money on their prescriptions.
Long-Term Care
CWAG has long been a proponent of adequate funding for home and community-based long-term care and giving people more and better options for the where they receive long-term care services.
Other Programs and Services for Seniors in Wisconsin
Wisconsin has some of the best programs and services for seniors in the state of Wisconsin such as the Elderly and Disabled Transportation Program, Benefit Specialist Program, Nutrition Program and many others. CWAG advocates at the state and federal levels of government to improve funding for these programs to meet the growing needs of seniors in Wisconsin.
Constitutional Ban on Civil Unions & Gay Marriage
CWAG opposes the proposed amendment to the Wisconsin constitution that will ban civil unions and gay marriage because of its impact on older unmarried couples.
Guardianship, Protective Services and Abuse Reporting Legislation
The revisions to Wisconsin's guardianship law became effective December 1, 2006, while the revisions to Wisconsin's protective services and placement law became effective November 1, 2006. Revisions to Wisconsin's abuse reporting statutes became effective December 1, 2006.
