The Senior Statesmanship Program of Wisconsin
Each year since 1980, senior citizens from all over the state come to take part in a unique program that educates older people on the legislative process at the state level of government--The Wisconsin Senior Statesmanship Program.
The program, operated by Member Services Unit in cooperation with the Wisconsin Association of Area Agencies on Aging, is designed to give seniors the opportunity to learn about and participate in the legislative process&<60;through first-hand contact with the people who represent them.&<60;Participants learn how a bill becomes a law, sit in on legislative floor sessions, attend hearings, visit state agencies including the Legislative Reference Bureau, Fiscal Bureau, the Bureau on Aging and Long Term Care Resources, the Board on Aging and Long Term Care (BOALTC), the Supreme Court and the Attorney General's Office and learn how to become effective advocates on the issues that concern them.
For more information about the Senior Statesmanship Program contact Mary Jorgensen at 800.366.2990 or 608.224.0606, ext. 323 or email mjorgensen@cwag.org.
